Just a quick round-up of news from the impending Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show at the NEC from 16-18 March plus a ticket offer for you.

So what's going on? You can get full details from the show web site, but here are a few highlights.

Gadget Stuff

The boys from Alpkit are going to be there with their whole range of good kit at very reasonable prices including the new Fantom down jacket and the innovative Gourdon dry-bag come day sac.

You can see Gourdon in full, dramatic waterproof action on YouTube right now...

Patagonia, one of our favourite brands and leaders in ecologically aware outoors kit will be presenting its 'common threads recycling programme' which turns old polyester clothing into new polyester clothing saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions in the process.

Sprayway will be showcasing its new electronic clothing including an iPod jacket with controls on the sleeves and a top-end mountaineering jacket with built-in two-way radio gadgetry.

Paramo will be there too with some new designs including the Velez Adventure Smock - like the Velez but with a fixed hood and neat, two-colour styling, plus the Fuera Peak windproof jacket which we don't know anything about.

Lowe Alpine will have their new advanced TFX back system packs on show, with a simple, robust design that still allows hip-belt rotation and shoulder flex plus an inflatable lumbar pad for all-day support and comfort.

Berghaus has a whole new range of shoes out now which has taken running shoe traits and added the support needed for more rugged terrain. They look rather neat as well.

Win Prizes With The Ordnance Survey

Headline show sponsors, The Ordnance Survey will be there allowing you to survey their ordnance.... Experts will be on hand to show you which way up your map goes and the organisation will also be showcasing some interesting new online services including an online interactive route planner. Sounds good.

The OS stand is also the place to go to take part in the Great Outdoors Prize Draw with some stonking prizes on offer. Last but not least, a little bird tells us that both Trail and Country Walking Magazines will be represented on the OS stand.

OUTDOORSmagic Ticket Offer

To buy a pair of show tickets for any of the three days for £10 each instead of the normal £12 or £14 if you choose to buy them on the day, simply go to the OS Outdoors Show web site at www.theoutdoorsshow.co.uk and click on the 'Book Tickets' link.

When you get to the booking page, enter the code MAGIC2 into the code box and press validate. You will then get the option to buy the discount tickets. Simple.
