You ungrateful so and so's - we start a special meets and partners
section of the forum and what do you do? I'll tell you what, only go
off and start your own club.
Yep, OUTDOORSmagic is pleased to announce that a bunch of members
have formed their own web-based, BMC-affiliated outdoors club called
'Mixed Routes'.

Join the club and not only do you have access to a running programme
of outdoors get togethers, but all the advantages of being a member
of a BMC club. In particular you'll get a 10 per-cent discount from
many outdoor retailers and benefit from the BMC's third party
liability insurance, so if you go kicking rocks down onto someone
else's dalmatian, you won't spend the rest of your life paying off
the vet's bills. As liability is up to £3 million, you can write
off an awful lot of pedigree dogs too.
The club also has access to the extensive list of BMC club huts in
mountain areas all over the UK, so no more shivering in tents when
you could be shivering in damp bunks...
The club's officers have strangely familiar names, or they would
have if forum users didn't keep changing their's, and as an initial
offer, membership is just £12.50. The site has its own web
site complete with full details and a mailing list which is used
primarily to organise meet ups.
Why's it called Mixed Routes? Frankly we have no idea, but
allegedly it reflects the variety of members' interests. Secretly we
reckon it's because they have a limited ability to follow the correct
route on map or rock, so it all gets mixed up. That tree logo? Mixed
Roots we reckon.
So, if you're looking for company on the hills together with the
associated BMC benefits, take a look: www.mixedroutes.org.uk. Now where did I put that £12.50...
