Bad news for Perseverance Mills, the Lancashire-based
manufacturers of the legendary Pertex fabrics, with the company going
into receivership last week.
PKF accountants have been appointed as receivers and are looking
for a buyer for the business as a going concern. As well as Pertex,
Perseverance Mills is also the world's largest manufacturer of
parachute material.
Some 70 per-cent of the company's business consists of exports and
the fierce competition from abroad coupled with the relatively high
exchange rate of the pound is apparently at the root of the
problem.
Bad news for a company that's a legend in the outdoors world
thanks to Pertex. We hope for the sake of walkers and climbers
everywhere and the company's 205 employees that a buyer is found.
