Plas y Brenin Launches Own Beer

National Mountain Centre now has exclusive boot-based brew to tempt walkers.

The Welsh National Mountain Centre at Plas y Brenin has just become even more excellent with the launch of its own beer, Brenin Bootliquor.

Plas y Brenin BootliqeurDue out this weekend, Saturday 7 June, the ale has been brewed locally by the Nant Brewery and, says the Brenin, 'is the result of months of rigorous staff testing'. It's also, rather improbably, claimed to 'steeped in legend'. Steeped in old socks more likely we reckon...

Walking For Beer

The brew is going to be exclusively available from the rather salubrious bar at Plas y Brenin and its launch coincides with a real ale 'Walking for Beer' course over the weekend which replaces the centre's wine-tasting sessions.

The weekend combines gentle walking through North Wales with a visit to a local brewery complete with guided tour and tasting session followed by an evening, erm, presentation from another local brewer and a tasting of the new Brenin ale.

Unfortunately it's a tad late to book onto the two-day course, but you can find details of the centre's other activities including the wine-tasting weekends at www.pyb.co.uk/offers.php

You can also find out about 'the legend of bootliquor' at www.pyb.co.uk/downloads/bootliquor.pdf hmmmm... brewed from walking boots and dubbin indeed ;-)
