Podcast Critters For Lakes...

Podcasts, as you've probably gathered, are the new black and popping up all over at the moment. One of the latest nests of the little critters is Go Lakes, the webby home of the Cumbria Tourist Board.

We're not supposed to tell you about them until tomorrow, but what the hell, they're up there now and available for download, so we're going to. So there ;-)

Among the first podcasts on the site is one by broadcaster Eric Robson, a Lakes resident and President of the Wainwright Society, in which he talks about how, even now, large areas of the still quiet and unfrerquented even at the busiest times of year.

"Podcasts provide a new and innovative way of communicating with potential visitors." He says. "People are becoming increasingly technically minded, particularly younger visitors. Tourism is a competitive business and it's vital for us to make use of the latest technology so that we stay ahead of other destinations."

Other casts on the site at the moment include travel writer Helen Pickles talking about things to do in the Windemere area, a description of a literary walk between two of Wordsworth's former homes - no, he's moved - and a November events guide including a brief preview of the Kendal Mountain Film Festival. Apparently there are some online videos too, but we're jiggered if we can find the little buggers.
