Project Aims To Get Ethnic Minorities Outdoors

'Our open spaces should not be the preserve of just the Gore-Tex-clad, Volvo-driving middle classes,' says an article in this week's Guardian Society section examining initiatives to encourage more ethnic minorities into the outdoors.

The piece looks at efforts to encourage more non-white faces out into our national parks and in particular focuses on the Mosaic Project, which aims to bring urban and rural communities closer together and in the process raise awareness of national parks among minority ethnic groups.

If you get into the hills regularly you can't help but have been struck by the glaring lack of ethnic faces outside of the odd school group. We reckon it's a fantastic idea and long overdue. You can read the original article here on the Guardian web site.
