Here's one for the diary with the news that the Rat Race
urban adventure race is coming to London for the first time on
29-30 September 2007 with an epic event promised.
The event village will be in the shadow of Tower Bridge and the
course is scheduled to take in some of London's most famous landmarks
with some 'quirky' checkpoint locations promised.
To get an idea of what's in store for spectators as well as teams,
check out this video of the 2006 Edinburgh Rat Race event. Alongside
the actual race there's live music, 'urban sports battles' and
ongoing entertainment at the event village.
The proven format will see teams of three racing through the
streets of the city using a mix of cycling, running, kayaking and
ropework with surprise 'Rat Trap' challenges along the way.
There are two classes you can enter: Adventure Class which
takes place over Saturday evening's Prologue and Sunday's all-day
main event and will set you back £99 per person.
Or, if you're less serious, Mean Streets is confined to the
three-hour Saturday night prologue which will take you through the
city street with the aim of accumulating as many checkpoints as
possible within the three-hour limit.
Plenty of prizes on offer too with £20k's worth for the main
event and £5k for the Mean Streets category. Looks good to us
and you can enter online at the Rat Race web site: www.ratraceadventure.com
where there's also a promotional video.
