The BBC is reporting that a volunteer coastguard has resigned from a cliff rescue team after saving a 13-year-old girl's life over a row about not wearing safety equipment.

Paul Waugh was nominated for an award for the rescue, but his failure to use safety equipment due to the urgency of the situation and lack of vehicular access led to an internal investigation and his subsequent resignation from the service.

You can read the full story at news.bbc.co.uk and also watch a video interview with Paul describing vividly what happened. Bonkers and rather sad.

He resigned because he was being investigated about some money related thing. Nothing to do with the cliff rescue.
