Want to work in the outdoors, organise an expedition or just pick up some mountain safety advice? Cumbria’s Rheged Centre is hosting two mountain lecture days in February aimed at mountaineering clubs and young climbers. There are different speakers on each day, which start at 10.30 and run until 3; here are the line-ups for both days:

Thursday 6th February – find out about working in the outdoors from Dominic Gething of Outward Bound, and hear a lecture by Paul Moores, Mountain Guide and member of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team on mountain safety.

Wednesday 26th February – climber Adam Wainwright will be talking about his expeditions to Yosemite and the Himalayas. John Scott of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team will be sharing his years of experience of expedition planning and mountain safety.

The ticket price includes entry to one showing in the giant screen film theatre (Everest or Shackleton), the excellent National Mountaineering Exhibition and a buffet lunch. The lectures were originally aimed at young adults – DofE, Scout and Guide groups, university clubs and the like – but the organisers also welcome bookings from grown-up mountaineering clubs.

Tickets cost £16 for the day, or £10 for students, advance booking recommended. Call 01768 860016 for booking information or click here to find out more.

Is this the one with Stephen Venebles in it?

I heard him speak about the making of a "recreation" of the epic across South Georgia, and it certainly sounded like it was a good film.

Not seen it though, waiting till the IMAX in Brum puts that and Everest on.

I've seen the Everest IMAX film twice now. It's really good - worth a special journey to see it. There's one (IMAX) in Manchester now too.
