We've got a bit more information on Satmap's
new online route planner, which we told you about
just the other week and which is scheduled for release in November 2008.
The planner means that registered Satmap Active 10 users will be able
to access over £5000-worth of Ordnance Survey mapping for
free and use both 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 maps online to plan routes,
which they can then download to their Active 10 GPS unit in GPX form or
print to paper.
Users will also have the option of planning routes using aerial
photography of Great Britain.
Route Share Forum
The new planner means that Satmap owners will be able to plan routes on
their PCs without needing additional mapping software and the planner
will also allow users to save their routes on the server and to share
their routes with others as GPX files on a new free Route Share Forum,
which will include a Microsoft Virtual Earth preview facility.
Due for release in November when it will be available at www.satmap.com
