A bit lastminute.com, but Matt Heason from Heason Events contacted
us with the news that you can combine a scoop preview of Jim Perrin's
long-awaited biography of the legendary Don Whillans with a
contribution to the Tsunami Appeal.
Jim's
going to be reading from the book 'The Villain: A Life Of Don
Whillans' on Monday 10th January, at the Lescar Hotel in Sheffield.
He'll be supported by Sam Whittaker - which'll stop him falling over
we guess - with photos by Keith Sharples and a video by Beardown
Productions.
The book's out next month priced at £18.95, but Matt will be
selling 50 copies at £12 each with some of the proceeds going to
the Tsunami appeal.
On top of that, Jim has offered to auction his final corrected
proof of the book, in its unbound state, with photocopied
illustrations (one of which he cat threw up onto!), and a mystery
piece of climbing equipment that belonged to the great man himself
(Whillans). Proceeds will go to the Tsunami appeal.
So if you're in the Sheffield area, make a note in your diary. The
event starts at 8.00pm prompt, get there for 7.30 and tickets are
either £6 on the door or £5.50 if you pre-book via the Heason
Events web site. Should be a good evening.
