Scottish Avalanche Forecast Back

The SAIS has recommenced its regular avalanche hazard outlook forecasts and snow condition reports for the winter and it's all on line as well

The Scottish Avalanche Information Service is back on line for the winter and has begun regular forecasts and climbing condition reports from five of the main Scottish winter climbing areas.

The reports cover Lochaber, the northern and southern Gorms, Creag Meagaidh and Glencoe and along with a detailed assessment of snow cover and climbing conditions also give an avalanche forecast level from one to five, with one being the lowest and five the highest.

It's an invaluable source of information for anyone heading onto the Scottish hills this winter and well worth checking. At the moment however, there's relatively little snow anywhere and the latest forecast is 'low' in the west and 'moderate' in the Gorms. Roll on winter.

We're going to update the weather pages with the best Scottish winter climbing and snow condition site, so this is basically a straw poll to see which ones you've found most useful and would like to see included.

Also, any good mountain web cams out there?

Thanks

How about

which contains regularly updated Cairngorm condition reports during the winter, written by a mountain guide.
