A new outdoors consumer show which was due to be held in Glasgow
in March has been postponed to 2005.
The Active Outdoors Show was to have been held at the SECC on the
weekend of 19-21 March and would have been along the lines of the OS
Outdoors Show at the NEC and the new Outdoor Adventure Show in London
next month with a combination of exhibitors, talks and features like
climbing walls.
A spokesperson for the organisers, Clarion Events, Scotland, told
us that the challenge of organising a major show in less than a year
was a major one and faced with a shortfall in the number of
exhibitors, they'd reluctantly decided to postpone to 2005.
They estimate that there are around 500,000 Scots who regularly
walk, ramble, climb, hill walk or mountain bike and who are unlikely
to travel south to either the London or Birmingham events.
Unfortunately it looks like they'll be waiting another year before
they get their own outdoors show.
London Show Is Go!
Meanwhile, if you're based in the south east of England, the
Outdoor Adventure Show takes place at the Business Design Centre in
Islington on 6-8 February. Full details from the show web site
