Scottish mountain rescue teams are to get an advanced new radio
system funded mainly by £400,000 from the Scottish
Executive.
The Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland (MRCS) has raised an
additional £200,00 which together with the Scottish Executive
cash will fund new radios for all 23 of Scotland's civillian mountain
rescue teams enabling them to operate more efficiently.
The new radios use a 15-channel system and each individual team
member will have a handset making for both greater efficiency on the
ground and helping to avoid channel congestion.
