A quick reminder that the
2010
Sheffield Adventure Film Festival - ShAFF - is on this
weekend,
12-14 March,
at the
Showroom Cinema
in Sheffield and it's not just about film.
Of course adventure films are the main attraction and the programme
looks excellent with a comprehensive mix of mountaineering, BASE
jumping, bouldering, paddling, cuture and mountain biking. And this
year, ShAFF will be in high definition as well.
Two highlights from least year's Kendal Festival feature in the shape
of the Alastair Lee and Leo Houlding collaboration, The Asgard Project
and double award winner, First Ascent - Alone on the wall. Lots
more besides including a number of premieres. You can find
full details on the ShAff web site, but as an appetiser, here's the
ShAFF video trailer.
More Than Just Film
There's more than just film at ShAFF this year. You can land
£500 in cash and over £2,000-worth of kit at the
Arc'teryx Adventure Shot & Quiz on Saturday night. On Friday
night, legendary climber Ron Fawcett will be reading from his new book
- due out shortly from Vertebrate Publishing - entry free.
There's live music from Mojo & The Beatniks and a Second Hand
Kit Sale where you can buy previously owned outdoots stuff or sell off
your surplus.
Looks like a cracking weekend. You can find full details and booking
information at
www.shaff.co.uk.
