Blogtastic coverage of the new Snowdon Summit building plus the construction process so far.
The steel framework of the new Snowdon Summit building has been unveiled in a Deeside warehouse where it's been erected as a practice run before being transported to the top of the highest mountain in England and Wales.
Snowdonia Active says that the 'imposing structure gives a good impression of the size and shape of the building that will be known as Hafod Eryri'. The site adds that the skeleton will now be dismantled, galvanised and the individual parts numbered before being transported to the summit by train. Apparently the individual bits all fall below the ten-ton weight limit designed to stop really fat people getting to the summit of Snowdon...
You can follow progress on the project via the excellent Snowdonia Active Snowdon summit blog at blog.snowdonia-active.com which has several images of the framework, more details of the construction process and comprehensive coverage of the building process so far, which has been temporarily halted by winter conditions on the mountain.
Well worth a look if you're wondering what's been going on atop one of Britain's favourite mountains.
