A quick congratulations to UK sleeping bag specialist Snugpak, which has
scooped a Queen’s
Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
Snugpak is best known for sleeping bags in the UK, but the company also
produces a range of synthetically-insulated cold weather clothing which
it sells both to general outdoors folk and the military both at home an
abroad.
The company is one of the last few manufacturers of sleeping bags and
insulated clothing to manufacture not just in the UK - it's based in a
listed mill in Silsden on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales - but in
Europe as a whole, something it's justifiably proud of.
Snugpak exports to 28 countries worldwide with military forces in
Latvia, Australia and the USA accounting for over 70% of export sales.
Since 2006, overseas sales have increased by a whopping 77 per-cent and
over 50 per-cent of the company's total production is exported.
Sales Director Darren Burrell said: “We are
thrilled to receive this award as recognition of our hard work and
success at developing high quality, durable products that can withstand
rigorous use in harsh and sometimes extreme conditions throughout the
world.”
Great to see a company manufacturing in the UK and kicking butt to
boot. You can contact Snugpack on 01535
