Some of the charges brought against nude end-to-end hiker Steve Gough in Cornwall have been dropped due to 'lack of evidence'
Steve Gough, the nude hiker, who's been threading his way from Land's End to John o'Groats via a chain of police stations has seen a public order charge against him dropped due to 'lack of evidence'.
The charge in question dates from the very start of his walk when he was arrested in Newquay, Cornwall, in June - see link to previous article below - other charges due to be heard next week have also been dropped.
Gough, 44, is walking with the aim of gaining publicity for his campaign calling for a change to laws on public nudity. He caused something of a furore when sightings of a 'mystery nude hiker' hit the national media over the summer and has since been arrested a reported 11 to 13 times in various areas - including while crossing the Forth Bridge - most recently in Inverness where he was remanded in custody for a week.
His mum has been quoted in the Mirror as saying that she hopes he'll give up on his walk. Here at OM we don't see the harm in it, but we'd advise him to get the thing done with before early autumn shifts into winter... It can get quite chilly up there.
