Part of the South West Coast Path, which has been closed for five
years may be re-opened soon according to this
BBC story.
The stretch of path near Torquay fell victim to subsidence making
it impassable and a dispue with a local landowner led to problems
with re-opening the route. Now though the Torbay Coast and
Countryside Trust have got the lawyers involved and things are
apparently moving towards a compromise solution.
The South West Coast Path is Britain's longest national path
running from Minehead in Somerset, all the way round the coast to
Poole in Dorset, some 630 miles of walking with around 19 miles of
that reportedly at risk from 'regular coastal slippage' according to
the South West Coast
Path Association.
