The Times may be doing Everest today, but the Grauniad has
interviewed French climber Alain Roberts - aka Spiderman - who
yesterday scaled the Lloyd's building in London as a publicity stunt
for today's TV premiere of the TV premiere of Spider-Man on the Sky
Movie Channel.
The bonkers French builderer took just 20 minutes to scale the
building and was promptly arrested by the police. The Guardian
speculates that he'll be paid over £10,000 for the stunt and
fined a piffling amount for creating a public nuisance.
Apparently Roberts started by climbing conventional rock routes in
the Alps but became disillusioned after scaling some of the hardest
climbs around and concluding, at the age of 17, that they were too
easy. He turned his attention to buildings and has now scaled some of
the highest in the world.
Typically Fench, he comments: 'When you are facing your own death,
money is not important'. To read the full interview with Spidey,
