Straight Outta Dorset...
New muesli bars from Dorset Cereals chomped on in the outdoors...

There's lots of good things come out of Dorset, not least Dorset Cereals, who
make rather nice muesli,
which is now available
in bar form for on the move consumption.
The bars are based on the company's three most
popular muesli recipes - Berries & Cherries, Fruit,
Nuts & Seeds and Super High Fibre - and made with the same
toasted flakes, nuts, seeds and plump dried fruit as the mueslis and held together with naturally sweet agave nectar. There are no
artificial sweeteners or added salt, just straightforward 'real
ingredients'.
We've had samples of the Berries and Cherries and Super High Fibre bars
on test and they're really rather nice in a wholesome and not oversweet
way, rather like a bar made from top quality muesli in fact, so no
great surprise there.
There's just enough moistness to keep them palatable, but no cloying
sweetness or stickiness. Nutritionally they vary slightly according to
the variety - the fibre one contains 16 per-cent fat compared to 4.9
per-cent for the berries for example - along with 9.6 per-cent protein
compared to 5.7 per-cent, but the mix of oats, dried fruit, wheat
flakes, nectar and more works well for active use and is a slower
burning alternative to choccy bars and less chewy than some dedicated
sports energy bars.
Price is 99p per 35g bar or £2.19 for a box of three bars, so
not cheap, but tasty. Available from the likes of Waitrose and Tesco or direct
from www.dorsetcereals.co.uk
