Suspected Foot And Mouth Case In Surrey

Possible outbreak of disease some 30 miles away from earlier cases.

The BBC is reporting that there's a possible new case of foot and mouth disease some 30 miles away from the recent outbreak in Surrey.

There's a 10km exclusion zone around the farm near Egham, a pre-emptive slaughter has been ordered and tests are being carried out to see if the animals' symptoms are due to foot and mouth.

We'd stress that at present the outbreak is unconfirmed and there are many infections that lead to symptoms similar to those seen with foot and mouth.
