There's a unique opportunity to see Sherpa Tenzing Norgay's son
Jamling Norgay in the UK this month as he presents a a series of
lectures sponsored by Mountain Hardwear and Cotswold Outdoor.
What's
more, we have a pair of tickets for each event to give away to a
lucky OUTDOORSmagic reader in an easy to enter draw - details
below.
Jamling Norgay wrote the acclaimed book 'Touching My Father's
Soul' which is an account of his participation as climbing leader in
the 1996 IMAX Everest expedition during which he reached the summit
of the mountain and, in particular, the significance of the ascent
for him in the light of his father's achievements.
Born 13 years after his father became the first man to stand on
the summit of Mount Everest, Everest, remarkably, was his first major
high altitude ascent, though he says that he felt, from an early age,
that he was destined to climb the mountain. He also says that his
Sherpa ancestry meant that he was confident that he'd be able to cope
with the physiological demands of the extreme altitude.
All in all, it's a fantastic chance to hear a unique Sherpa
perspective on Everest, so don't miss out.
