The Friday Matinee

From Spain to destruction testing of climbing hardware? It's all gone horribly wrong this week.

If it's Friday then it is almost certainly time for the good old Friday Matinee and, with the weather still shockingly rubbish, we thought we'd go to Spain for some sunshine.

Actually literally, but figuratively as well this week. To start with, if you missed last week's matinee and the gut-wrenchingly scary head-cam clip of the Caminito del Rey path in El Chorro then it's too late, the original clip we linked to has been removed... but in case you missed it, here's another one albeit without quite the same weird ambience...

Actually all the other Spanish mountain clips we could find were rubbish, generally with really bad, cheesy, mood music so we gave up. And while we were giving up we found this.

It's footage of the UIAA testing climbing hardware to destruction and it's kind of ace... Just watch those biners pop ;-)

Oooh, and here's some more. You wouldn't want to be reincarnated as a hex, trust me. And oooh, that poor ice axe.

Have a good weekend and keep your ice axe away from hydraulic rams.
