Third Snowdon Rescue This Week
A man was helicoptered off Snowdon after reportedly breaking his ankle in a fall, the third serious accident since last Saturday. Perhaps fortunately, the weekend is forecast to be much milder.

The continuing wintery weather has kept mountain rescue teams
busy, particularly in North Wales where three injured mountaineers
have been rescued from Snowdon in the last five days or so.
The latest accidents are in addition to last Friday's tragic
events when three people died in separate mountain
accidents in the Lakes, Snowdonia and Scotland.
In the latest incident on Snowdon, a man in his 30s was airlifted
off the mountain after suffering a broken ankle near the summit. The
accident follows on from two separate incidents at the weekend when a
man was rescued after falling 400 feet on Saturday and another fell
and dislocated his shoulder on Sunday and had to be airlifted to
hospital.

Getting Milder
Perhaps fortunately, though not for committed winter mountaineers,
the weather seems likely to turn milder over the weekend with double
digit temperatures forecast for some areas. Unfortunately it looks
like being wet with it. Metcheck
forecasts 'much milder conditions from Friday onwards and into the
weekend.' Incidentally, anyone living up north will be looking in
disbelief at claims this is the driest winter for years; it might be
in the south, but northern Britain has a distinctly soggy feel
underfoot...
