A bit of a last minute date for your diary with a heads-up on
what's claimed to be the UK's first ever multi-sport adventure sports
festival, The Dirty Weekend, taking place this Saturday and
Sunday 5/6 July 2008 at Traquair House in the Scottish
borders.
Over the course of the weekend, the Traquair Estate will be
hosting no fewer than three separate events - an ACE Race two-day
adventure racing event, a Polaris Challenge mountain bike
orienteering two-dayer and on the Saturday, the Dirty Dozen trail
run.
That's not all, the grounds of Traquair House in the Tweed Valley
are going to be transformed into an Event Village for the weekend,
with stalls, demonstrations, live bands and a real ale bar clustered
around the central arena where events will start and finish.
If you're not feeling particularly adrenaline buzzed, you can
always take a tour of the house, buy local craft products on site,
chill out with a pint of Traquair Ale and take in the live bands
later in the evening.
If on the other hand, you're in a competitive mode, the good news
is that entries for all three events are still available and there
will be full back-up for competitors including bargain kit from the
on-site Ellis Brigham gear shop and Rat Race Shop. You can also learn
skills at the Dirty Weekend Workshop area and wash and service your
bike. Finally a team of masseurs will be available to keep your
muscles turning over smoothly.
