Touching the Void writer Joe Simpson has discovered a new talent for, erm, modelling with an appearance as the cover star of the new Rohan clothing catalogue.

He does yer know...

Simpson's profile has never been higher, with the acclaimed film of Touching the Void picking up a BAFTA for best British film last month leading to a spate of media appearances. He pops up on the catalogue's cover, climbing with a mouthfull of carabiner, while inside he 'shares some of his views on life' and explains how he became re-acquainted with the Rohan brand.

Apparently although aware of the brand through his climbing, he didn't realise Rohan made casual travel clothing until he read about the range in a newspaper. 'Nowadays,' he says. "I find myself doing an enormous amount of climbing, most of which is business oreientated rather than the mountaineering trips I used to embark upon.

"When I looked at the Rohan website, I was suprised to see how wrong I had been in my ignorant 'stretchy breeches' assessment of Rohan's travel clothing range."

Joe now wears Rohan kit 'for a range of activities form film premieres to corporate lectures' it says here. So, if you want to throw out your stretchy breeches, check out the Rohan web site. The new spring - summer range is available now.

So, how long before he becomes known as "Mr Rohan"?

Come on, you don't really believe that. He's being paid to put his name to Rohan copy as do all personalities who endorse products.
