Trail Magazine Gets New Editor

It's adios to Guy Procter and hello to a brand new editor, who was previously features editor of the UK's best-selling mountain-walking magazine.

A bit of news from the magazine flatlands of Peterboghorror where Trail magazine now has a new editor.

After three and a half years in the Trail hot-seat, Guy Procter is off to multimedia pastures new, though still within Emap, and his place has been taken by Matt Swaine.

Matt was previously the magazine's features and then deputy editor after joining from a guitar rag some time back. He then went on to lecture on the Diploma for Magazine Journalism course at Cardiff University before succumbing to the irresistable pull of the legendary Peterborough effect - you'll never leave...

Matt - pictured right - comments:

'We are going to build on Trail's fantastic success over the past three years, by attracting new readers who want to get into walking but don't know quite where to start.

'We want Trail to be their gateway to the outdoors and the ultimate tool kit for anyone who loves UK hills. To do this we are going to find new and exciting ways to put the reader at the heart of everything the magazine does, while continuing to deliver the kind of practical and inspirational features that have seen our circulation rise to nearly four times that of our nearest competitor."

So there! Since Matt had barely set foot on a mountain before he started working for Trail, he's the ideal man for the job and with his recent experience, we confidently expect Trail to go bi-lingual in the near future, erm, not.
