If you're at a loose end this weekend, don't panic, there's still
time to enter the Edinburgh Rat Race's Rookie Challenge.
As opposed to the main race, which involves serious running and
riding through the streets of Scotland's capital, the Rookie
Challenge is aimed at, er, rookies, and involves taking part only
in the Mean Streets Prologue on Sasturday night, the aim of
which is to get to as many checkpoints as possible within 3 hours
(from 7pm until 10pm).
The cost of entry is £25 per person, which sounds steep until
you factor in the goody bag worth £50 that you'll receive as
part of your entry. You can register up to 3pm this Saturday 16 July.

Two Weeks Till Manchester Rat Time
You also have two weeks left to enter the Manchester Rat Race on
August 6 which takes place on the Saturday only and again includes a
rookie class. The highlight of the event should be the Bruntwood
Aerial Assault, the first climbing competition to feature the use of
buildings as routes with entry including some of the UK's best
climbers.
