If you live near Castleford, near Leeds, you've probably noticed
the appearance of a new centre called Xscape, which is modestly
dubbed the 'perfect family entertainment destination'.
So far, so good, but marginally more interesting than the cinemas,
bowling lanes and restaurants for us, is the presence of two rock
climbing walls, an indoor ice-climbing wall and three real snow
slopes along with an aerial assualt course dubbed the 'SkyRide'.
The climbing walls are called 'ClimbZone' and both come under the
banner of 'The Ledge' and are run by the company behind the Adventure
Centre - Ratho near Edinburgh, which is, itself, on the point of
opening.
The climbing walls look pretty different and are themed to
resemble the classic North American red sandstone towers found in
Utah and Monument Valley. There's a load more information on The
Ledge operation at Castelford on this
page complete with a downloadable slide show.
And if you get bored, there's always a branch of Ellis Brigham for
some retail therapy...
