Venables is best known as the first British climber to summit Everest
without oxygen via the notorious Kangshung face in 1988. More
recently along with Conrad Anker and Reinhold Messner he took part in
the re-enactment of Shackleton's epic treverse of South Georgia for
the film 'Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure'.
The RGS series 'explores the personal discoveries in great
people's lives' , so Venables, who has been through some serious
stuff, should make an interesting interviewee. Tickets are £5
each and you can book by calling 0207 591 3100.
You can find more information on events at the RGS on their
web site.
