The Mountain Rescue team were called out early this morning (Monday), to find one walker dead and two others trapped on a ledge. They had been out on the hill overnight.

The 75-year-old who died was visiting the area from the Peak District. He took a fall of around 100 feet and suffered serious head injuries. No one else was badly hurt.

That’s all we know at the moment but no doubt further details are on their way. In the meantime, read the full story on the beeb.

You can also find out more about Scottish Mountain Rescue – those super-heroes in waterproofs and walking boots – who deal with hundreds of call-outs every year, all on a voluntary basis.

There's been talk of numbers of call-outs rising in recent years. But at the same time, any one of us who regularly gets out in the hills could end up relying on the MRT in a tight spot, so it’s always worth giving them a thought.

Anyway, back to the accident -we’ll give you more details when we have them.
