The new 'Essential Guide To Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail' is
going down a storm with walkers according to the Countryside
Agency.
Published in May, the pocket-sized book has already busted through
the 1,000-copy barrier as the latest National Trail grows in
popularity. Priced at a very reasonable £3.50, the 64-page
booklet came about to provide more information about the every day
facilities needed by walkers following the Trail.
That means it contains essential information on stuff like bus
routes, the location of water taps and toilets, cafes, cash points
and even where to find secure car parking. There are also
conservation tips, advice on organising large group or charity
events, top tips for walking the trail and lots more.
"Since opening in 2003'" says national trail officer David
McGlade. "Hadrian's Wall Path has proved extremely popular with
walkers. Over 3,500 people completed the trail in the first few
months. We found however, that these walkers didn't have enough
information about the everyday essentials often taken for
granted."
If you're off to the Wall, you can either pick up a copy of the
guide locally in bookshops or direct from Hadrian's Wall Information
Line on 01434 322002 or by e-mail.
More information about the Hadrian's
Wall Path and a more general site about the wall is available at www.hadrians-wall.org.
