Just a quick heads up to remind you that this weekend - 21/22 July - is the
annual charity fundraiser for the Wasdale Mountain Recue Team
complete with live music, demonstrations and a grand charity auction
of outdoor gear.
Unsurprisingly the event is taking place in Wasdale and centred
around the Wasdale Head Hotel. Attractions include a Wastwater
Underwater Swim attempt at 10 am on Saturday, live music on Friday
night and a display by an RAF Sea King helicopter at 11.30am on
Saturday as well as an all-day treasure hunt, search dog display and
flight simulator.
The Charity Auction itself takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday
evening with all proceeds going to the team. There's an amazing
selection of outdoor kit and equipment up for grabs with lots ranging
from trekking poles, through magazine subscriptions, tents and
jackets right through to a self-catered week for two in Chamonix.
On top of that, there'll also be an all-day shop selling off
smaller donated items including some contributed by
OUTDOORSmagic.
It's all in a good cause, so if you're in the Lakes this weekend,
why not drop by, take in some real ale and splash the cash.
