Forecast
'A quiet weekend lies ahead as the area of high pressure that has given
the fine conditions this week continues to dominate our weather.
However, an Atlantic low pressure system will try to push into western
areas, bringing some rain here and freshening winds to many areas by
Sunday. ' |

Forecasts
Saturday Alittle blowy in many
mountain areas, think 15-25mph or so but with local gusts of 40mph or
so, which will give sudden buffeting on exposed ridges. Scotland mostly
dry with sunshine and very good visibility. Similar in Lakes and North
Wales but with possible bursts of rain late in the day. Temps up top
around 12˚C or so - nice and mild in other words.
Sunday
Blowy again with some buffeting, maybe some rain early on but clearing
and mostly dry and mild with reasonable though hazy visibility and
patchy sunshine.
Outlook 'At
least until Wednesday the weather will be finely balanced between fine,
warm conditions associated with a large area of high pressure over
Scandinavia and belts of rain or thundery showers circulating round low
pressure SW of Ireland.
'Wet weather may even reach as far NE as Scotland around
Saturday night. Further bands of rain will move slowly northeast across
Wales and England around Tuesday but should begin to get pushed away
westwards as strong winds become more easterly on Wednesday. Just a
hint of some fine, warm weather with light winds later in the week. .'
Check specific forecasts for details as the weekend
progresses.

Saturday: Less optomistic than MWIS for once,
but breezy, mostly dry, hazy sunshine, possibly some rain late on in

of the same, though maybe a little light rain to start with.

The midge forecast is back and so are the midges As ever, the advice is
to avoid Glencoe and Fort William where levels are now '5' or 'Nuisance
Levels' as are Ullapool and Torridon this week. Things get better as
you head further east.
The forecast
is also available on YouTube

Web Cams:
If there's one that we've
missed, please drop
us a line and we'll
add it to the page.
Good for getting a general idea of what the snow situation's like, if
the sun is shining, whether there's anywhere to park in Coniston etc.
Check the image you're viewing is
up to date as
they often seem to go down. Recently overhauled so most cameras
featured are actually working :-) If you find one isn't or have a new
addition we should know about, please let us know.
Mostly good
visibility, mostly dry, mild on the tops too.
The odd blowy
gust plus some showers late Saturday / early Sunday.
Looking pretty damn decent. It's going to be mostly dry with mostly
patchy sunshine and good, though hazy visibility if you believe the
forecasts. There will be some gusty winds high up, so mind yourself on
narrow ridges and the odd shower late on Saturday in western parts like
Snowdonia. Mostly though, looking good. Have a great weekend.

Disclaimer Hey come on, we all know mountain weather's
unpredictable, and while the above forecasts and links are a guide to
what the weather may do, remember that mountain areas also tend to
generate their own conditions, temperatures are much cooler up top
than in the valleys and conditions can be totally different from down
in the valleys.
