Weekend Weather 20/21 October

This is our regular Friday round-up of what's in store
for the weekend, but it's been revised so that the clickable map
below is accessible all week round from the menu above in the 'Get
Outdoors' section.
And this weekend? Rain turning up on Friday night according to the
Online
Weather mountain forecast and not looking great over the weekend
either. Most areas get rain on Saturday it seems with Scottish hills
wet again on Sunday, but south of the border having a dull but drier
Sunday - check links to individual areas below . Temperatures on the
tops around 9 or 10 C with mild winds from the south, we think.
Saturday will ontinue to be unsettled with showers and rain some
heavy with thunder says the Met
Office, Sunday looking more settled.
Scotland and eastern England mainly damp and cloudy says Saturday's
general forecast from Online Weather, everywhere else will get
showers, some of them heavy. Sunday
better except for the far NE of Scotland which gets rain. Winds light
and moderate from the east.
Three-day weather
animation from the Met Office shows and enormous hippo gambolling
through the tulips of eastern Wales.
It's still mild thanks to southerly
winds and hey, it won't rain all the time.
The words 'dull', 'damp' and 'cloudy' crop up a lot...
Verdict Still quite mild, but with all those showers around
on Saturday, you'll be needing a waterproof. Sunday looking better. Visibility
could also be poor in some areas, so don't forget your guide dog.
Access For latest access see our latest foot
and mouth update. We've heard on the grapevine that some of the
paths near Ingleborough have re-opened, but please check. Main areas
still hit by foot and mouth closures include the Brecon Beacons,
parts of Cumbria and N Yorks where some paths have been closed again,
notably on Whernside and Pen y Ghent. For Brecon details check
this
site and the links on our main foot and mouth page.
