Weekend Weather 12/13 December 2002
|
This is our regular Friday round-up of what's in store
for the weekend, but the clickable map below is accessible all week
round from the drop down menu above in the 'Get Outdoors'
section.
A good weekend to buy a sofa? Hmm, the bad news is that the New
Year snow is in retreat, though it's still only just above freezing
on the tops. The Online
Weather mountain forecast opts for an unsettled weekend, though a
weak ridge of high pressure will give some dryness on Saturday before
rain and cloud overnight. Snow thawing in Scotland.
The Met
Office, reckons rain spreading to North and West on Saturday, dry
in South and East. Cloudy. Saturday's
general forecast from Online Weather says cloudy most places,
maybe some sun in the East. Sunday
cloudy with band of rain crossing North and West then brighter, drier
weather later.

Avalanche
Information Service check for latest forecast, but right now the
outlook is for thawing, some snow left in various high gullies and
corries and on the Cairngorm plateau axes and crampons are
advised.
It won't rain continuously.
Cloudy greyness and the snow's pretty much gone.
Verdict Hey, it's not perfect and there's a greyness to the
forecast and the world, but there's no reason not to get out there
and make the most of it. Warm clothes and good shell clothing plus
hats, gloves and spares a must. You may need axe and crampons on some
high Scottish mountains. Have fun.
Access For access information links see our latest
foot
and mouth update. Apart from areas within 3km of previously
infected farms, which haven't yet been officially cleared, paths
should be open.
