Details are being firmed up for the OUTDOORSmagic attempt on the Welsh 3000s challenge on the last weekend of this month, 29-31 August.

Like all OM Meet-Ups, the weekend's open to any OM member who'd like to come along as part of a group of people who've met through the site - it's a great way of putting faces to names.

The big difference with the 3000s meet is that it's going to be quite a strenuous day out, so you'll need good basic mountain fitness and a big dollop of determination. You'll also need a decent head for heights as the route takes in Crib Goch on Snowdon, an exposed Grade One scramble.

The Arrangements So Far

Plans are being discussed in detail on this forum thread but the firm arrangement so far are:

Camping from Friday night at the Dol Gam site, which is situated on the A5 just outside Capel Curig.

Meet-Up Pub is the Tyn y Coed, where we'll be meeting up for pre-epic beer and food on the Friday night.

Route Options Everyone has slighty different ideas on the best specific route, but the two main options are to either bivvy on Snowdon summit on Friday night and descend Crib Goch, or, alternatively, to start early - very early - from Pen y Pas and ascend Crib Goch before dropping down on one of the easier paths.

Support Several kindly people have generously volunteered to provide support, both in providing lifts to the start of the route and from the finish and by providing two provisioning points at major road crossings where you'll be able to re-stock with fluids, eats, morale, blister pads etc.

Sunday Nothing's scheduled for Sunday, but as Saturday looks like being 30 miles plus, you probably won't want to do much anyway. Lunch at Pete's Eats anyone?

If You Want To Come Along...

Easy, just register your interest in the Welsh 3000s roll call thread. You may also be able to arrange a lift. Any queries, please drop us an e-mail.
