Welsh Mountain Weather Forecasts On Web

The Met Office is carrying excellent mountain-specific weather forecasts for the Snowdonia and Brecon Beacon areas on its web site. And about time too ;-)

Anyone off to the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia National Parks for the weekend might like to know that the Met Office is carrying mountain weather forecasts for both areas on its site.

The forecasts comprise a detailed description of today's expected conditions including visibility, cloudbase, wind and temperature at summit level - 900 metres for Snowdonia - and freezing levels, which you'll be glad to know are well above the summits. In addition there's a two-day outlook, which is more general, but also includes expected temperatures on the tops.

Great stuff and apparently produced by the Cardiff Met Office in conjunction with the Welsh Tourist Boards and the Welsh Assembly. Hopefully other UK regions will take note and introduce similarly useful forecasts for other mountain areas.

Links, you want links? Erm, okay, here's the Snowdonia forecast and here's the Brecon Beacons one. For our regular Friday morning round-up of the weekend weather links, see this page.

Thanks to OMer Marcus Crompton for tipping us off about the mountain forecasts.
