So what’s the gig? Courses for women, designed by women, guided by women. That's Chicks Unleashed, a mountaineering skills service set up by experienced mountaineering instructor chick Rosie Goolden and catering for walkers, scramblers and climbers.

Joking aside, a lot of women feel that an all female environment is supportive and great for learning, so all Chicks Unleashed's professional instructors are female.

The outfit's first venture in 2003 was a runaway, knock-out, gurly success, with demand so high that Rosie eventually had to book pretty much every female mountaineering professional in the UK. Result...

Based in the superb Ice Factor facility at Kinlochleven just around the corner from Glencoe, the Chicks Unleashed Winter Mountain Seminar 2005, offers instruction in walking winter skills, mountaineering and climbing.

Even better we have a place for one of the two-day courses to give away to a lucky OM user plus three Chicks Unleashed tee-shirts for runners up - and yes chaps, you can enter too, but you can't go on the course.

The event runs from Sunday 6 to Sunday 13 February and you can choose from a two-day or five-day experience with all courses being designed and led by women. The clinics can be tailored to suit your level of experience from winter walking though to full-on winter climbing, all you need is a passion for the mountains and the right genes.

The seminar is supported by the Mountaineering Council of Scotland, The Association of Mountaineering Instructors, The Ice Factor, Planet Fear and Mountain Works.
