Scottish-based WL Gore has been voted the best UK company to work for in a Sunday Times commissioned survey.

Gore-Test Dummy in laboratory action...

The company scored top three rankings in responses to over 20 of the 65 questions - winning eight categories outright and also won The Castle Award sponsored by the DTI for equal opportunity in the workplace. WL Gore has two factories in Livingstone near Edinburgh and one in Dundee.

Not surprisingly, the British arm of the famous Gore-Tex operation is pretty chuffed: 'This is a fantastic achievement for the company and reflects the values that we strive to uphold every day of the working year," said Ann Gillies Human Resource Leader. 'Gore has an unusual management style - we are a group of associates - and it is wonderful that the survey demonstrates how successful this approach can be.'

Gore has two factories in Livingstone near Glasgow and one in Dundee. As well as churning out acres of Gore-Tex fabric every year, the company also produces other products including the wind-sacks for bagpipes. And not a lot of people know that...

See Gore's web site for more information about the company.
