From October 14th to 17th 2011, four women will have the chance to spend a memorable weekend in the Spanish Pyrenees . This amazing opportunity will see the winners share tips and tricks with Edurne Pasaban in the Benasque area, which contains several world-class trails and some pretty impressive scenery.
Gore-Tex are looking for female outdoor enthusiasts from Europe to take part in an unforgettable weekend ascending Mount Aneto (3,404 m) in the company of Edurne Pasaban. This is the highest peak in the Spanish Pyrenees and is as legendary in the outdoor world as the mountaineer with whom they will ascend it.
Alpinist Edurne is the first woman ever to climb all fourteen 8,000-metre peaks. She has been a prominent figure in the international climbing scene for a long time and is now a major international sports personality. Her success has been widely acknowledged and in 2010 Edurne was designated Spanish sportswoman of the year and Adventurer of The Year by National Geographic.
The Benasque area is the site of several world-class trekking routes, which cross through some truly impressive scenery. The lucky four will no doubt be overwhelmed by the stunning natural beauty of the Posets Maladeta Natural Park, a mountainous area that features the largest concentration of peaks of over 3,000 metres in the Pyrenees. The successful mountaineers will discover the seductive appeal of its history and ancient living traditions, its rich cultural heritage and excellent cuisine.
Mount Aneto is the highest mountain in the Pyrenees and Spain’s third highest mountain, with an altitude of 3,404 metres (11,168 ft). It is located in the Spanish province of Huesca, the northernmost of all three of Aragon’s provinces, forming the southernmost part of the Maladeta massif.

Gore-Tex want to offer four active women the chance to participate in this unique adventure. Participants must enjoy the outdoors and be experienced mountaineers. The final tour will take place from October 14th – 17th 2011. To be selected, applicants should explain in writing what climbing the Aneto with Edurne Pasaban represents for them, what they hope to learn and experience in the process, and what spending time with Spain’s number one alpinist would mean to them. Let your mind run wild! Just imagine, a weekend in Spain, Edurne Pasaban, Aneto and you!
