Young climber dies in fall from Gower cliffs

Partner seriously ill in hospital

Sad news from Wales where a 24-year-old climber fell from a cliff to her death yesterday, her climbing partner and boyfriend is seriously ill in hospital.

The couple, who have not been named, were believed to be climbing the east cliff of Rhossili Bay, on the Gower peninsula, when both fell, the woman falling over 70 feet. The rescue services were called to the cliff at 13.45 and attempted to save the life of the young woman, but she died at the scene forty-five minutes later. An RAF helicopter flew the injured man to Swansea's Morriston Hospital.
