'Oh Lord, won't you buy me a pair Meindl Nepal Pros'
Strengths:
No breaking in, luxurious comfort - like slipping into a pair of velvet lined Mercedes for your feet.
Weaknesses:
£140 - but then you get all of what you pay for. Reassuringly expensive.
Overall:
Just what you'd expect from a German manufacturer. Like their cars - strong, reliable, comfortable, tough. The best boots I have ever owned. My feet will wear out before these babies!

'THE ULTIMATE 3-4 SEASON BOOT WITHOUT A DOUBT.'
Strengths:
The most comfortable boot I have worn. Even after about four years of use, the inside of the boot still smells new. They are incredibly comfortable, and the padding around the ankle is tremendous.
Weaknesses:
None that I know of.
Overall:
This a boot that all walkers should try on. Also worth noting, is that the updated version of the Nepal Pro is now goretex lined (not that mine have ever leaked water)

'EXCELLENT 3/4 SEASON HILL AND MOUNTAIN WALKING BOOT'
Strengths:
Comfortable with little breaking in required.
Feet stay dry walking in snow.
Crampon compatible (C1) but enough flex for all day walking.
Rigid enough to kick steps in hard snow.
Weaknesses:
Thin footbed. I have added Sorbothane inners.
Some lace hooks have bent, and have required bending back into shape - I am concerned that this may lead to them breaking off.
Overall:
An excellent boot for winter hill and mountain walking. Great on moderately steep (i.e. not graded) snow and ice.
No gore-tex lining so breathable and quick drying (but I think the current model is gore-tex lined, so this would not be applicable).

'BEST BOOTS I'VE EVER OWNED'
Strengths:
Very comfortable and lots of support. First time I wore them I walked 10 miles without any ill effects!
Tough.
Flat laces don't slip and allow different tightness over toes to ankle.
Waterproof - even if not Goretex lined - after 4 years tough use.
Weaknesses:
Narrow in the toe and slack in the heel at first until I realised how to lace them. (Heel down and tighter around the ankle than the toes!)
Sole pattern can easily clog.
Overall:
Still the best boot I've ever owned. Thoroughly recommended.

'VERY COMFORTABLE!'
Strengths:
Comfort
Build quality
Available in half sizes
Luxurious leather lining
Weaknesses:
Maybe not quite as durable as some other boots
Prone to leaking through the stitching on the lower tongue area
Expensive!
Replaced by a gore-tex version
Overall:
These boots were comfortable from the first day I wore them. I have often used them with strap on crampons and experienced no problems.
Why oh why have they replaced the Nepal Pro with a gore-tex lined version? Gore-tex adds weight, makes the boots much sweatier and is totally unnecessary.
My only quibble is that I don't think they last as long as some other boots, though this may be due to the lack of tlc over the last few years of their life. After 5 years the leather lining on the inside around the heel has split, and they leak in extended downpours. The rand has started to come away from the leather. BUT they have been subjected to extremely heavy use - bearing this in mind they have lasted very well.
The tongue is not one-piece which sacrifices waterproofness - more stitching = more potential leaks.
All in all a great boot though.
I have just replaced them with a pair of Scarpa SL M3's - I will be interested to see how they compare...

'MOUNTAIN SLIPPERS!!'
Strengths:
Wore them straight from the shop onto the hills. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. They are good in rain, snow and sun. Crampon compatable, used them on snow gullies on the the Ben with no problem. Good enough to kick steps in snow, front point up a reasonable gradient, slop through icy streams, walk 10 miles back to the car - and drive home in them!
Weaknesses:
They need cleaning at the end of the day and the occasional good dose of Nikwax rubbed in with your fingers to keep them looking good and waterpoof. Hardly a weakness.
Overall:
I bought a pair of Karrimor KXBs this year - can't work out why, the Meindl's do the same job and take crampons which the KSBs don't.
3/4 season means 4 season, throw all your other boots/slippers/clogs away!!
Don't think they sell these anymore - they do a substitute which I assume is just as good, but if you can find a pair - buy them.
