'SUPERB BOOT'
Strengths:
Lightwieght for leather, and totally comfortable day in day out, excellent hardwearing gortex liner as well keeps feet dry provided you have good gaiters due to low ankle.
Weaknesses:
Leather wears out quickly and cracks if subjected to high level rocky hill routes ie certain scottish munros as i have used them for!
Overall:
Perfect for lower level, moorland, hill tracks-which is what they are designed for, but I have used them much higher without significant problems but both the uppers and sole will wear out quickly. I am currently after another pair but try getting a pair of 11 and a half nigh impossible so they must be selling well or i've just got big feet! Had my last pair ten years, with plenty of hard pounding, so I've has my moneys worth.

'Comfortable out of the box – seem to wear out quickly'
Strengths:
I did the Pennine Way without breaking these boots in, and I didn’t suffer one blister. They are very easy to walk in. Also, my feet stayed dry for all 18 days (and it rained for 16 of those).
Weaknesses:
In my opinion the soles aren’t stiff enough - you can feel the rocks through them. Also, the leather has started to crack and the soles have almost completely worn down after only 2 years of occasional use (Pennine Way + 5 3-day trips).
Overall:
Comfort is the selling point for these boots, at the expense of something that will last. They really are great at low level walking, but as soon as you hit rock, you do start to feel it. I sometimes feel a bit nervous around the ankle area, as there is hardly any support, and again I believe that this is because Brasher are going for the comfort in the shop vote.

'Use them for what they were designed for'
Strengths:
Good low level walking boot
Weaknesses:
Bad high level walking boot.
Overall:
Chris Brasher designed these with only one goal in mind: comfort. In doing so he made rather a lot of comprimises.

While improved over the years with better soles and leather, this boot is still only good at low levels. The sole isn't stiff enough for heavy backpacking or really rough ground, where neither it nor the soft leather will give you enough support.

The leather is soft and needs lots of care with Brasher's own polish (G-Wax or Nikwax isn't suitable, they will over soften the leather and invalidate the guarantee). But after two years of admittedly hard use, the leather on mine is heavily cracked and scuffed despite careful to-the-letter care. They now also leak; in either boot the Gore-Tex has failed in small areas and the thin leather has little natural water resistance, giving me wet feet in rain.

Brasher also deliberately gave the sole a soft rubber compound to improve grip. They say the sole should be changed regulary as you would a car tyre, but at £40 a hit combined with the rest of the boots' lack of durability that's not realistic. At the same time, the Brasher-branded sole can't match Vibram for rock grip. Not surprising, as Vibram have been making soles an awful lot longer.

These things really are comfortable though. The leather lining, soft leather and large sole rocker (the bottom of the boot is highly curved when seen from the side, 'rolling' you fowards as you make a step) make them comfortable straight from the box.
They excel at country walking. But the weaknesses pointed out make them unsuitable for much else (although for the majority of people, there isn't much else). Personally, I got rid of mine after spraining my ankle twice on rocky ground.

'Comfy but not tough'
Strengths:
Weight, Leather lineing, comfort, grip
Weaknesses:
Strength
Overall:
The Brasher Slogan is "travel light, travel far, travel in comfort"
These boots can do all these but you wouldn't want to push them too far.
Being lighter than almost any other
water-proof leather boot that i know (as well as many fabic one's) there obviously has to be compromise.
It has come in ankle support, and durability in the sole and uppers(outside). Inside the boot i have found the leather lining has kept the Gore-Tex in good shape. The leather is only 1.8mm thick. A thing to note to all those vibram whingers - there are very few soles that can compare to vibram in terms of durability and grip although in grip brasher is quite close if not better. Again if the soles had been made more durable they would have weighed the same or more than most other compareable boots. The soles are improving all the time so watch out.
Personally these serve my needs and i think if you don't need much support
these are a good choice

'BRILL'
Strengths:
What can I say, these are great boots!
Very comfortable.
Weaknesses:
None really. Just keep the leather polished with Brasher's own polish which I use. Not sure about the soles, don't think they are as good as vibram.
Overall:
For general hillwalking, these are a must!
Get some good socks and you are cooking on gaz!

'SPEC IS A LITTLE DATED FOR THE PRICE NOW.'
Strengths:
Light-weight, waterproof, sole does not clog mud. Good build quality
Weaknesses:
Sole wears down quickly
Quite a low cut for a boot which means slightly less ankle support than some.
Leather upper is quite thin
Good for low-level rambling but for higher level, support and grip from sole is not so assured.
If carrying heavier loads (backpacking) then might not provide enough support
Overall:
For day-hikes at low level in the British countryside this waterproof, very lightweight, quality boot is just the ticket - although it is quite expensive - you pay for quality. However don't ask it to do things it was not designed for such as higher-level multi-day hikes on rough terrain with heavy loads!

'VERY COMFORTABLE, TOTALLY WATERPROOF, VERY LIGHT.'
Strengths:
Fit like a glove straight from the box. The goretex lining is behind a leather inner, meaning that your long toenails won't puncture it. Totally waterproof. Nice rolling action, very light.
Weaknesses:
Soles wear down alarmingly quickly, and not very grippy, despite shedding mud well. Need resoling regularly, which can be quite expensive. Leather on the uppers is very thin so cracks easily and scuffs badly on rocks. Not very supportive due to low ankle and soft leather.
Overall:
Very good quality lowland leather walking boots. Very light. Not ideal for hard wear and tear, or taking up mountains (although I have worn them up a grade 2 scramble on Glyder Fach and they were okay).Totally waterproof - ideal for the Peak District and Pennines, which is where I live!
