'Bad on the Heels!!'
Strengths:
Great soles, well designed, Salomon quality throughout.
Weaknesses:
My pair knock hell out of my heels.
Overall:
Not as comfortable as my previous Low's. I have spoken to a few people who have the same problem as me with rubbing of the feet. Previous pairs of low's gave no problems at all.

'Painfull'
Strengths:
Soles, Lacing
Weaknesses:
Heels
Overall:
I've had a pair of these for a while and sometimes they are just wonderfull and sometimes they rub my heals untill I can't walk any further.
But then I know two other people with pairs who have had absolutely no problem.
I can't fault them on anything else and unfortunately it looks like they might last forever.

'Born Slippy'
Strengths:
Style
Weaknesses:
Apart from EVERYONE having a pair, the weakness for me was that they don't fit.
Overall:
NB I only tried these out; they didn't fit:

These things have got stiff soles to do the walking/biking gig. However, the low cut ankle and large heel box mean that on me, they feel like slippers. My heel rises far too much.

When trying them on, go up and down the shops test ramp to make sure your heels don't slip.

'FINE FOR A TRIP TO THE PUB'
Strengths:
Well constructed. Nice lacing system.
Weaknesses:
Killers on the heels.
Overall:
I get really bad heels after walking 2 or 3 miles. Driving in them for more than a couple of hours also hurts.

'NOT WORTH THE HYPE'
Strengths:
Very solid, no real signs of wear after using them for 5 months. Although the tread isn't deep they provide excellent grip.
Weaknesses:
Heels have hardly any padding and no give. 3 miles is my limit before they start to hurt. Sized very small - I had to find a 12 to fit my size 11 feet.
Overall:
Lots of people are making solid shoes, but these ones won awards. I'm surprised that so many reviewers have the same problems with their heels and you have to ask what use is a trail shoe that you can only walk in for less than an hour? I'm going back to my Merrell's.

'HAMPSTEAD HEATH ON A SUMMERS DAY.'
Strengths:
Easy to put on. Easy to throw away.
Weaknesses:
Just about everything else.
Overall:
Rubber is horribly slippery. Doesn't make for a great approach shoe. Big opening makes them easy to get on but unless you lace them cripplingly tight they are too sloppy for walking in anything steeper than the fens. They're so low cut that traversing even a gentle slope means that you end up almost falling out of them. Buy fivetens instead.

'WOULDN'T BOTHER AGAIN'
Strengths:
solid / secure
reasonable grip
look stylish
Weaknesses:
rip my heels to shreds
fraying around ankle cuff
Overall:
On my 2nd pair (1st pair replaced after they started fraying). 2nd pair going in exactly the same place (must be the way I walk!). Now relegated to "round town / nip out to the shop" trainers status. Not for long walks.

'CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE SO POPULAR'
Strengths:
Look good at first
Weaknesses:
Upper split above the rand. I can only wear them when it's dry and warm and my feet need ventilation.
Sizes too small. What's the point in having a sizing system that's out of synch with the rest of the world?
Overall:
Won't buy any Salomon shoes unless they can prove they're better than the Merrells I now use.
