The ergonomic, cork handles let your hans rest naturally on the pole, and even when sweaty they are easy to hold. The antishock really works, and your hands don't end up bruised!
Like all Leki stuff they are easy to fix and the parts seems to be everywhere. | | Weaknesses:

Strong, Tall, well manufactured.
Well known brand. | | Weaknesses:
Even my dog didn't like these. These poles are heavy, they make your arms ache and the ergonomic grip gave me tennis elbow. The extra weight means that they are not so smooth to place as with lighter poles. As for the Turbo disc; well, mine don't. The telescopic adjusters rusted up and the aliminium began to oxidise.You will never convince me of springy poles anyway, takes all the feel out of the pole tips. | | Overall:
These now live in that nefarious nether region know as T'bak'o'cupboard, where they will no doubt linger until my will is read and I leave them to an enemy. |

I occassionally found that they would telescope down if I leaned on them heavily, this has never happened with my cheaper poles | | Overall:
i never use mine now but instead usea pair of cheaper poles that are not 'anti shock' I prefer the fact that when I put them against the ground they are not going to give a bit until they hold |

Anti-shock works wonderfully, they let me walk again after I screwed my knee up. | | Weaknesses:
Poles have tendency to reduce their length without warning especially when wet.At other times the adjusters will lock solidly.Cost | | Overall:
There are now better poles on the market for less money so I wouldnt actually buy these now. |

These are the first poles I've used, and they seemed fine to me. No problems with slippage as reported by other users- perhaps they didn't tighten them enough?

| 'HOW A WALKING POLE SHOULD BE.' | | Strengths:
The Leki Super Makalu (AS - anti-shock])(PA - positive angle) holds its main strength through design. The concept is there and the respective features do work. The design is cleaver and actually sets a bench mark in pole design. From the ergonomic hand grip to the carbide flexi tip, the features for the making of an ideal pole are here. The only problem is, as with many new concepts, is that there are a few inherent niggles.
Apart from a few niggles - as mentioned previously - the SAS (soft anti-shock) works, and during normal use, works effectively (for me anyway). From experience there is nothing worse than feeling every contour of the path vibrating up the pole and through your arm with each placement. The SAS really comes into its own here as it virtually eliminates that vibration, taking the irritation away. The positive angle of the hand grip is by far the most comfortable, natural and useful in the Leki range. The positive angle really helps keep the hand and wrist in the correct and natural position.

Cost is a major weakness, as what you're getting can't justify the price tag. The Turbo Disc facility is absolutely pointless. | | Overall:
The pole does the job, and if you can justify the cost its worth having. Its an example of how a pole should be. |
