'LOVE IT!'
Strengths:
Comfort
Weaknesses:
Belongs to the wife!
Overall:
I bought this for the wife before our NZ trip as she was demanding alittle comfort. It's so comfortable I try to snaffle it as much as possible. It was on sale due to the new prolites being available. It might be slightly bulkier but the 3/4 length one does the trick beautifully. i love it!

'COMFY BUT BULKY'
Strengths:
Very comfortable at 1.5 inches thick. Mine inflates well and hasn't failed me in four years of use.
Weaknesses:
It takes up a fair amount of room so really needs to be strapped to the outside of your pack. At 830g is not all that light by today's standards.
Overall:
I've had plenty of good nights' sleep on this and don't begrudge the money it cost at all. I do intend to get a prolite 3 short before long but I will keep this for colder weather and rougher ground.

'I LIKE IT'
Strengths:
all the goodies of the orginal Therm-a-Rest but less bulk and less weigth
Weaknesses:
'softer' than the orginal ones
less thermal insulation
Overall:
I like it because it's less bulk an less weight. I can fold the mat double before roling it up. This way it's easier to put into my backpack.
The mat is, when selfinflated, too soft. I always need to blow extra air into the thing.
I like it very much but I still keep my original when thermal insulation is more of an issue.

'THE NADDS'
Strengths:
The perfect balance betwen weight and comfort if you have to carry your gear!
Weaknesses:
Sounds sad but thier really arn't any!
Overall:
If your not getting a decent nights sleep buy a thermarest. The real weight concious should go for the 3/4 lengths. I'm 6ft 2' 13Stone and I found the ultralight to thin but anything above is rather darn comfy!

'COMFORT ON THE FLOOR'
Strengths:
Light and compact and pretty comfy and warm. Go for a guidelite if you want a bit more comfort.
Weaknesses:
Had an ultralight where the top layer came away from the foam inner and bulged up at the end. Top marks to Ellis Brigham in Capel Curig who changed it without a reciept or any hassle so I could get a good nights sleep last week. Can be a bit slidey on top for my bag.
Overall:
Expensive perhaps but warm and comfy. Watch out for punctures though! Worth buying a repair kit before going off somewhere remote.

'TOP NOTCH KIT'
Strengths:
low weight and decent pack size when compared to some other self-inflating matteresses, but doesnt sacrifice comfort to achieve this. Therm-a-Rest's quality and their life-time gaurantee
Weaknesses:
more pricey than most matteresses, even with the staytek fabric, mat is still slippy, however whilst lying down it doesnt really matter unless you pitch your tent in a bad spot, such as on a really really steep hill.
also stuff sack is too wide when mat has been rolled away normally, and slightly too small when mat has been folded in half, my sack ripped at the top within the first few trips, but nothing that my dodgy skills from school textile lessons didn't solve.
Overall:
a bit pricey however in my opinion worth every penny, i have enjoyed numerous undisturbed nights on my mat and it is possible to sleep on your side.
overall a real winner, ultimate combination of weight, pack size (mat can be folded in half prior to being rolled away), and comfort.
