'WASTE OF MONEY'
Strengths:
Erm... the tin could be useful?
Weaknesses:
Poor quality items... would rather be with this tin than without if if I was left surviving with NOTHING, but they could do so much better
Overall:
The above says it all really. If you want a decent pocket survival kit be prepared to get the individual bits yourself. The Doug Ritter PSK by contrast is excellent with genuinely useful, well thought out high quality contents... go for that every time. More than worth the price.

'A total waste of money'
Strengths:
Hmmm...well at least it's compact. And the sewing kit and candle are OK.
Weaknesses:
Non-functional compass, weedy whistle, crappy matches, under-featured fishing kit etc. And even Ray Mears couldn't find a survival use for a pencil.
Overall:
The things which work are ultra-cheap to buy separately. The things which don't would be the most important in a 'survival situation' and it's essential to have decent ones. You could easily put together your own kit. It would cost a bit more but at least it would work.

'GOOD STARTER KIT'
Strengths:
Good for a starter kit, Good as a practice kit also.
Weaknesses:
Matches are poor, fishing line could be better. Not the best in the world.
Overall:
Fill with cotton wool, for fire lighting.Add your own bits and pieces.
Better than nothing. then take the best bits and make your own

'DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU PUT IN IT'
Strengths:
Wire saw and fishing kit is first rate compass takes a bit of getting used to but it does work.
Weaknesses:
knife is useless and matches are crap
Overall:
for a starter kit it is not that bad, but you do need to swap a few bits, first the knife is crap so swap if for a small victorinox swiss army knife, second the fire steel dosent last long so buy a sweedish steel and striker. sewing kit fishing line and the other bits are quite good and come stored in tidy tin that has a good seal.

'POOR EQUIPMENT, BUT A GOOD IDEA!'
Strengths:
Some of the equipment is useful.
Weaknesses:
Some is poor.
Overall:
Try Doug Ritter's PSK (Personal Survival Kit) for a viable alternative. Or replace the knife with an Opinel #5, throw in a Photon III L.E.D. light, add a Spark-Lite fire lighter, and throw away the matches!!!
