'THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD'
Strengths:
-Tough as hell: I've had this bag for over a year now, and since then it's been all over the country, slung in overhead compartments, tumbled down hills and been completely overpacked-and it's still going like the day I bought it!
-Light: Ok, so it's not going to be anywhere near your GoLite stuff, but at just over 1kg it's a huge weight off your back with bags of a similar size.
-Adaptable: This is one of the first 35lt bags that has an all round zip that will actually hold up to proper mullering-I took it Interrailing for a month, completely overpacked and yet I was still able to organise everything and reach it easily. Being able to use the vent section was a godsend. It cut down on the breathability a lot, but for the little things I couldn't fit anywhere else in the bag having that extra emergency space was ideal :D
Weaknesses:
I got the old version, with a half zip either side, so it didn't go all the way round-get the new version with the full zip as this is so much more adaptable, my travelling buddy got the new one and she loved it!
Overall:
Get this, and you'll never need another bag-unless you're planing on going up t'Andes!

'COMFORTABLE'
Strengths:
Extremely comfortable and very light. I couldn't believe it when I put it on for the first time. It was like no other rucksack that I have experienced. Choice of bladder location. Large external stretchy pocket. Side pockets. Waistbelt pockets.
Weaknesses:
Panel loading. I just prefer top loaders. The framework inpinges too far into the load space. Not totally convinced that the airspeed system will work. It needs some sort of side vent in my opinion. Zip catches on cover too often. No rain cover. Not waterproof. Narrow straps. All grey version not available in the UK.
Overall:
It is without doubt a very comfortable rucksack. I use my rucksacks daily to carry my stuff to work as well as to wander the hills and carry my shopping so it has to serve many purposes. I was disappointed to find that it didn't come with a raincover and that will add another £16 to the price. I was extremely pleased though to get the rucksack for £81 deivered from Hike-Lite. After initial excitement the pack's limitations are making themselves known, but the comfort, as long as not heavily loaded, will make up for the drawbacks. My greatest worry is when I take it on a plane, if the frame will survive if the baggage handlers put a large pack on top of it.

'BLOODY FANTASTIC!'
Strengths:
Huge size, for a 35litre pack it fits everything I need for a 2+ day hike, and some. Build quality is superb, extremly comfy, And very very very light. And you get a built in Whistle on the chest strap!
Weaknesses:
Slightly more padding could be put on the shoulder area.

Excellent

'SUPERB SPORTY DAY SACK'
Strengths:
Excellent back system that isn't simply dead space as it can be unzipped and used as extra storage.
Extremely handy stretch fabric external pockets.
Easy access to main zipped compartment that swallows up gear.
Plenty of loops & ties for strapping on extra gear.
Water resistant zipped smaller compartment.
Hydration bladder pocket.
Handy waist belt pockets.
Weaknesses:
Err... well not particularly water proof; the compression straps expose the main zip when pulled tight.
The shoulder straps can dig in after a long day's hike.
Overall:
If the Osprey Crescent is the Rolls Royce of backpacking sacks, the Amtos is the Lamborghini of day sacks; sleek, packed with inovative features and allows you to move fast. That you can get it in red only caps this tortured metaphor...

Oh yeah, and they both cost a small fortune; but don't say you're not attracted to those sexy curves?

'TOP CLASS DAY PACK'
Strengths:
Excellent comfort, combined with many well-thought out features such as the neat stretch-cordura external pockets and hip belt pockets. The quality and attention to detail shines through.
Weaknesses:
To be picky, I am not convinced by the panel opening design. As the pack is not particularly waterproof (at least for all-day rain) I find I need to use a waterproof liner, which means there is little advantage over a conventional closure.
Overall:
Overall the best day pack I have owned. It has even changed the way I think about clothing for the hill - it has so many useful handy pockets that I no longer need to have these on fleeces, trousers etc!

'IF ONLY THIS HAD COME OUT YEARS AGO!!!'
Strengths:
Extremely comfy carry. Load it up, put it on and forget about it. Only when you lift it do you realise you're carrying some weight. I like the waist pockets.
Weaknesses:
I'm a sweaty b***** and I was a litle disappointed to find that the air mesh back is not quite so breathable and comfy as I'd hoped. Also the curved frame can make loading stuff in and out of the bottom of the sac just a little time consuming. Adding a waterproof liner bag just adds to the loading problem. Also the main zip baffle gets caught in the zip just often enough to be irritating.
Overall:
Despite minor niggles the comfort factor of this sac makes it a cracking piece of kit. Just wish they'd brought this out years ago.

[Update 10/08/06] Ooops! and double Oooops! I've just realised that I've added my review to the wrong sack. My comments apply to the Atmos 25 which is a great day pack. I have no experience of the Atmos 35. Humble apologies to all concerned.

'SUPERBLY COMFORTABLE'
Strengths:
Very, very comfortable.
Nice low profile yet gives you handy storage options.
Bladder fits in the gap behind the back freeing up more space if you need it.
For a lightweight sack its durable too and should give many years service...
Weaknesses:
Panel loader - its the first one I've owned and personally I don't like it. Try unzipping it with a gale blowing and see what happens !
The price (get what you pay for I guess)
You can't sit on it or you'll bend the frame
Overall:
The most comfortable daypack I've ever owned. In fact its so comfortable I'm now using it for 1-2 day camping trips instead of my GoLite. (the large Atmos is 37L).

My wife took one look at it and ordered the Atmos 25

'BEST PACK I'VE EVER OWNED!'
Strengths:
- It's the tardis of the backpack world - its shocking how much you can fit it!
- Very very confortable for day and weekend hikes
- Great compression system
- Lightweight
- Quality (even of the little things)
- Versatility - use for summer day hikes or extended trips. The bag will do it all.
Weaknesses:
- If you're skinny like me you're going to find it bruises your collar bones with a heavy load (16kg+) on extended hikes with just a t-shirt on. The straps are not very padded at all! I've got round this by draping my fleece over the bag and then having the sleeves under the straps (but only for 4+ day hikes)
- Not waterproof. But a raincover stores well in the stretch panels on the sides. Due to the bag design, they stay on VERY well too.
- Not cheap (but worth it)
Overall:
Not perfect, but as damn close as you're gunna get it!

'A ROLLS-ROYCE PACK!'
Strengths:
Very well made, with good details in the design
Extremely comfortable
Those waist pockets are dead handy
Large size is 38 litre capacity
Weaknesses:
Ahhh, ermm - I'll have to pass, as I haven't found any! If I'm pushed, I just wish I could have found one discounted .....
Overall:
I was a bit concerned about the purchase of the Atmos 35 as it certainly isn't the cheapest of its size (!), but I'm delighted with it - very comfortable even fully loaded in 33 degrees (in Dorset!).

I can even fit enough gear/food (including tent) for a West Highland Way solo trek - but only just!

In short - I'm chuffed to bits with it!
